Stanley Chen Qiufan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Arts and Social Sciences, Hong Kong Metropolitan University. Born on November 30, 1981 in Shantou, Guangdong, he graduated from Peking University with a double degree in Chinese Language and Literature and Film and Television Directing. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Science Fiction Literature Committee of the China Writers Association, Vice Chairman of the China Science Writers Association, and President of the World Chinese Science Fiction Association. He is a representative of China's new-generation sci-fi writers, known for his realist and new wave style, often hailed as "China's William Gibson." His research interests include science fiction literature studies, modern and contemporary Chinese literature, creative writing, AI and writing, and cross-media/intercultural communication. He previously worked at Google and Baidu, and currently serves as Vice President of Brand at Beijing Noitom Technology Ltd.
