Biography

Projo Danoedoro, male, Professor of Geographical Remote Sensing at the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), focusing on landscape ecology, land-cover/land-use, and terrain analysis-related studies. With 40 years in remote sensing, he was formally inaugurated as Professor in Remote Sensing for Land Ecology on 13 February 2024, with an inaugural oration titled 'Remote Sensing: Its Position, Paradigm and Modelling for Landscape Ecology'. He teaches at undergraduate, master, and doctorate programs. His publications with colleagues and students mainly concern remote sensing methods development and applications for urban biophysical environment, land-cover/land-use change and prediction, crop production estimate, vegetation structural and species composition, biomass and carbon storage estimates, wildlife habitat assessment and management, as well as landslide and erosion modelling. He is Director of UGM's Center for Remote Sensing (PUSPICS), Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program (MSc and Doctorate) in Remote Sensing, and Chair of MapBiomas Indonesia Scientific Advisory Council (SAC).
